Areas of Interest
My research interests can be categorized according to topics and thinkers. Beginning with the topics, my research interests include philosophical theology, philosophy of religion—primarily the burgeoning field of continental philosophy of religion (though you cannot know philosophy of religion without knowing contributions from both analytic and continental philosophers)—phenomenology, hermeneutics, virtue epistemology and the history of philosophy. The figures who have piqued my interest in these areas are Augustine, Kant, Hegel, Kierkegaard (most of all), Husserl, Gadamer and MacIntyre. Recent contributions from Merold Westphal and John D. Caputo have influenced my research interests as well. I hope to do specific research on Kierkegaard and the relationship between faith, reason and desire or passion.
