Areas of Interest

In Greek, the term philosophia is translated as 'the love of wisdom.' This definition of my occupation accurately expresses the passion I feel for philosophy. Understanding is always my aim; more specifically, understanding myself, the world (broadly construed) and my relation to it. The dissertation project I envision explores the human journey, one which begins with the body and culminates in the soul (an explanation that is ambiguous on purpose). The key thinkers who will be the driving force in this project are Martin Heidegger, Parmenides, Immanuel Kant and Plato but it is almost a certainty that more will be included. The ideas behind this project constitute most of the thinking I do on my own, but I am also very interested in the areas of ethics, race theory and the history of philosophy (mostly the Greeks, Romans and Augustine).  In light of what I have said however, I do not wish to limit myself. I very much look forward to exploring ideas I have yet to be exposed to, and take great pride in the notion that I am 'open.'  In a nutshell, to me philosophy is about life and everything that entails
