Tanmoy’s chutney
This is a version of the green dip you're given with crisp breads before dinner at Indian restaurants.
I got this from Tanmoy Kumar, who grew up in India.
- Combine the following in a blender:
- 1 bunch of cilantro
- 3 Roma tomatoes
- 3 jalapenos (seeded or not depending on how hot you want it)
- juice from 2 lemons
- 1T sugar (or some fruit juice)
- 1T salt
- Pulse a few times to partially puree everything.
- Add about 1/2 cup water (or juice) to make it less thick and finish blenderizing the mixture.
- Also, either finely chopped at this point or add prior to blending above:
- the cloves from a bunch of garlic
- onion
- and, maybe, 1T ketchup.
