The Dash Inn was a Mexican place across from Arizona State University when I was there in '80-83. Afterwards,
I would always plan to dash in when passing through Phoenix, until one year I found that
it had closed. But now a web search turns up the following address and phone:
- Location: 829 S. Rural Road, Tempe AZ - (480) 966-4766.
A net citizen and erstwhile Dash Inn employee and customer tells me that the original owner of
Dash Inn was Hash Nelson and his wife's name was Dee; hence the name. Also, this person tells me
that Hash Nelson still runs a restaurant in nearby Glendale, called ¿Que Pasa? which features many
of the same tasty dishes.
Himalaya Restaurant & Catering in Houston serves some of the best Indian food
I’ve ever had, at decent prices in a minimalist setting. The owner is very friendly, but don’t get on his bad side. He says that he believes
in spicing the food “the way it was meant to be,” but if you want it really spicy, you need to ask for it. To the northwest along
Hillcroft is an Indian district of the city.
- Location: 6652 Southwest Fwy, Houston, TX 77074 (from Highway 59 southbound, take the Hillcroft exit, continue on the feeder
road through the light at Hillcroft, and then turn right into the first strip mall) - (713) 532-2837
- Recommendation: whatever the owner says.
